Entries for Music, Irish Folk Dancing, and Drama should be forwarded with the appropriate fees preferably by cheques made payable to Portadown Festival Association to the Honorary Secretary for the appropriate section.  Entry Fees will not be refunded under any circumstances. Post dated cheques will not be accepted.

 Manual Entries for Speech and Dance should be forwarded with the appropriate fees preferably by cheques made payable to Portadown Festival Association to the Honorary Secretary for the appropriate section.  Entry Fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.  On Line Entries for Speech and Dance will be paid on line. The entry will not be accepted until full payment is made. Entry Fees will not be refunded under any circumstances. Post dated cheques will not be accepted.

 1.1

The competitions are open to amateur performers ONLY. An amateur is defined as “a person who does not derive the main part of their income from that section of the art which they propose to enter”. This rule does not apply to conductors.

Competitors will be admitted free only to the session during which they are to compete. Admission tickets must be bought for other sessions.

Competitors may obtain particulars of their marks on application at the box office at the conclusion of each session.

4.1

 Prizes will be withheld if sufficient merit is not shown.

4.2

In cases of Vocal and Instrument Ensemble competitors single entries, when recommended by the Adjudicator, may be awarded a special prize.

4.3

The award of a certificate does not follow the attainment of any particular standard of marking but is made purely at the discretion of and on the recommendation of the Adjudicator.

In Junior or Juvenile competitions the onus of proof of age rests entirely with the teacher entering the competitor, or any other person making the entry. Where an objection on grounds of age has been made the competition shall proceed but awards may be withheld pending investigation. Age should be reckoned as at 1 January in the current year of Festival.

The order of competitions in the programme (arranged by Ballot) will be strictly adhered to, unless under exceptional circumstances

The Committee reserve the right to refuse any entry.

No protest will be received against the award of the Adjudicator as to merit.  Any protests against the infringement of the conditions, or against a Competitor, must be accompanied by a Fee of £25.00 which will be returned if the protest is upheld by the Committee, whose decision shall be final. A complaint should be submitted in writing via ROYAL MAIL enclosing the £25-00 to enable a Committee meeting to be convened. Other messages on E-Mail / Facebook will be treated as "comments" and will be acknowledged but will not merit a formal reply from the Festival.

9 Perpetual Challenge Cups and Challenge Shields are to be held by the winner for one year and must be signed for when awarded.
10 The Committee will require security for the safe custody of the Cups and Trophies which must be returned to the appropriate Festival Jeweller:;

Speech                     –      Cambells Jewellers, Church Lane, Portadown

Drama                       –       Campbells Jewellers, Church Lane, Portadown

Irish Folk Dancing  –       Campbells Jewellers, Church Lane, Portadown

Dance                        –        David Van Scoy, Market Street, Portadown

Music                         –        David Van Scoy, Market Street, Portadown

No later than 21days prior to the date of the Festival in the following year.

11  All entries for competitions are received subject to these Bye-Laws.
12  The decision of the Committee shall be final in all questions arising out of or not provided for, in these regulations.
13  In the Speech, Music, Irish Folk Dancing and Dance Festivals, stage props, kept to a minimum are permitted. Special lighting and special effects are not permitted.
14  In order to facilitate the timing of the programme, it is expected that all entrants appear on stage without delay.
15  All photography, audio or video recording is strictly forbidden.
